Introduction
In this task I am going to be generating 3 different ideas for a game concept. Each Idea will be substantially detailed and fully explained. For instance, I will include a comprehensive description of the game's background story, genre, characters, Objectives, Objects (and more) with concept and illustrated images which will help make it easier to understand the concept of the game.MindMap
Game Idea #01: Apollo
Brief description of the gameIts the year 3002 and the earth has began running out of resources. Finally, Humans have used up all the natural resources and People are putting more carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere than the forests and oceans can absorb and the earth is struggling to regenerate these resources. The only possible way to stop planet earth from becoming uninhabitable is to colonise another planet to get the resources we need to save planet earth. Sargent's Kadar and his team must go to planet Apollo.
Planet Apollo is a mysterious planet which has a lot of different species. Humans have travelled to Apollo previously in the year 2016 when the earth first started showing signs of its natural resources struggling. They took what they needed from planet Apollo, destroying the mysterious beautiful planet at the same time. This means approaching the planet will cause a immediate attack from the remaining android's left on the planet who are trying to rebuild their planet and keep their people alive. There are many undiscovered species on planet Apollo so travelling to the planet will be unpredictable and very high-risk for Sargent Kadar and his team.
Control's
Game Genre
Mission Apollo is a action, strategy, first person shooter. This means the game is going to emphasise the players reaction-time to avoid obstacles and battle against enemies.
Game Perspective&Game Objectives
The player will be playing in first person perspective as Sergeant Kadar who is on a mission to collect necessary resources to save planet earth from deteriorating and slowly decaying. Because the androids will instantly attack any humans in sight because of how humans have previously treated planet Apollo.
To collect the resources Sergeant Kadar must go into KI9 which is a building protected by androids but it is the only way to collect the necessary resources. The Building has deteriorated over the years and you can clearly see the damage from the humans, aligned to the right is a illustrated drawing of how the architecture in the game will look like. The player will have to find a way to land Sergeant Kadar’s ship without gaining any unwanted attention from the androids protecting planet Apollo. The player next objective is to find their way into KI9 without being detected and make their way through a lot of rooms, looking for the resources needed to save planet earth. The player must collect the total of 30 resources and return back to the ship although each room is guarded and has numerous androids walking around the building and only certain rooms will have hidden resources in. Map
Here is a map of the first floor in KI9. The first map is just a simple map which the player will be able to use on the game. This Map is basic and just shows the rooms in KI9 although once the player has encountered or spotted a android a red dot will appear on the map to indicate that a android is there. The Next map is a more advanced map, this map shows where the resources, androids and Nyx is located. This Map will not be given to the player, ive just created this map to make it easier on how the player has to find the resources. The resources will be hidden in the rooms for instance they could be in a book shelf, closet, box. The player Must search KI9 to find the resources to save planet earth. If the player helps Nyx, each task which is completed will result in Nyx giving the player a riddle to help find the resources.
NPC Once the player has collected a certain amount of resources the game will gradually get a lot harder and more androids will become a lot more active however there is a NPC which is a small abandon robot called Nyx. Nyx is looked down upon by the androids because of how short he is they believe he is a failure within the android system. Even though each android is a different shape, size and built Nyx is the smallest and weakest android. He is kept in a work shop and is made to collect bolts, oils and other necessary objects to help cure any damaged androids. The player can find Nyx and do a deal with Nyx. If the player help find Nyx the items he needs, Nyx will give the player hints and tips on where the next resource may be.

Below you can see concept and illustrated drawings of the androids which will be on guard in KI9, the androids used to have a polished and herculean shape although the android were badly effected in 2016 when the humans came and destroyed Apollo, taking every necessary resource they could find. Now the androids have a old, destroyed, weak, scruffy appearance and I have tried showing this by creating a illustrated picture of a android which has a lanky body built instead of a herculean shape the androids used to be.

Story Board
Here is a story board to make it easier to concept the idea of this game. For each story board I have included a illustrated picture created using Photoshop with a short description to help describe what is happening in that particular scene. My story Board is based on the player getting caught and shooting the android. I have also created a animation of the android walking towards the player, you can see this in a GIF below.
Similar Marketed Games
In this section I am going to compare my game concept idea's to similar games which are already in the market. For instance, visually the game concept will be similar to how borderlands appearance is. The terrain will have the same western, old but futuristic appearance similar to the borderlands terrain. The architecture is also similar to some buildings in borderlands, the buildings will have a rustic appearance to them, like they have been fixed with scrap metal and rubbish.
Game Idea #02: Battle for the Plant Earth
Brief description of the gameThe Human Race stands on a brink of extinction as a series of aliens begin to attack planet earth. The Protagonist is a young solider called delta who was fighting in the Congo jungle, central Africa when the alien race arrived on Planet earth. This advance race is beginning to destroy planet earth and for the first time ever Delta is fighting a war, not against humans but against an advance alien race to help save planet earth. The player will play as the protagonist and complete waves of aliens. Each wave will introduce a new species, gradually making each wave more difficult.
In order progress to the next wave the player must first destroy all of the aliens. Each wave will gradually get more difficult for instance a new species with a different attack, look and difficulty will be introduced in each wave.
Genre and Control's
Battle for the planet of the earth is an action game available on a wide variety of devices. On a PC the player can use arrow key to control the character and space bar to fire their weapon, for instance if the player wanted to move right then they need to press the right arrow key. To reset the Game the player can press the ESC Key and to pause the game press the P Key. On devices such as smart phone the player will have the option to can simply press or swipe on the screen using their finger to make the player move and tap on the screen to shoot.
Terrain
Battle for planet earth is based in Congo jungle which is located in central Africa. The terrain is going to involve vines, ferns, trees, cliffs, mud and maybe animals such as lizards or snakes. The player will be able to hear the games background music but other sounds such as birds, monkey shrieks, and animal movements and so on to help add a more jungle atmosphere. I have created an image to help generate what the background might look like in the game.
Characters
In battle for planet earth the game includes a protagonist and a alien opponent. The game doesn't need a Non-Playable character although maybe a NPC could own a shop which is where the player will purchase their weapons and upgrades.
Protagonist

I first created my protagonist so he was facing the player although I then started to adjust the players perspective and edited the picture so the player was then facing as a side profile. I wanted the character to look young and worries, I also wanted the character to have a cartoon appearance. I achieved this look by adding a bold, black outline and drawing big, anime-like eyes.
Aliens
As mentioned above, aliens change every wave. This means that there are going to be loads of different species of aliens; some big, some small. None of them are going to look the same. I have decided to do a quick illustration of a alien which will be introduced on the first round. This alien has a happy and vulnerable appearance, its easy to kill and has causes a very low damage. Once the aliens progress the aliens will begin looking more fierce and more frightening.
Perspective and User Interface
The players will be seeing the game in a old retro platform perspective. This means that the game will basically be seeing the game from front view perspective. I have created an illustrated image in Photoshop to help make it easier how the game will look as a platform. I have decided to generate an idea for a platform game because at one point, platform games were the most popular genre of video game. At the peak of their popularity, it is estimated that between one-quarter and one-third of console games were platforms. I truly believe that the classic's are now becoming back into trend.
The Player will have 100% health which is displayed as a red bar in the top left corner and a short blue bar to indicate the player’s ammo, which is a total of 50. When the player is hit or the player uses their ammo the bar will decrease. In the top Right corner there is a small grey pause button, it will pause the wave and bring up small options which has two different options. The first option is 'sound' which will allow the player to adjust the sound on the game and the second option is 'Quit level' which will bring the game to the main title then the player can either leave the game or choose a different level which has already been unlocked. Once the player has progressed till the 5th wave they are able to start unlocking weapons, upgrades and suits. To unlock the player must achieve a 3 star feedback after each wave (Only starts getting rated after 5th wave).
Story Board
Here is a story board to make it easier to concept the idea of this game. For each story board I have included a illustrated picture created using Photoshop with a short description to help describe what is happening in that particular scene.
Objects
There are a few objects which the players are able to collect. The player can collect ammo Boxes which will restore and fill the player’s ammo back to its full capacity. The player can also collect a bag which will restore the player’s health back to 100%. There is only a certain amount of ammo creating and health bags on each wave. Once the player has collected the object, the object will be deleted.

Video Example
I have created a quick platform game using construct as my game engine. I Created this really quick game to make it a whole lot easier to understand the games perspective and interface. Because I made the game really quickly there is a few flaws although please do not focus on the mechanics of the game play, focus on how the game looks. Also if i was to improve this game I would add a walk cycle to the player.
Game Idea #03: 1066
Brief IntroductionThe game is based in 1066 which is commonly known as the Viking era. For a long period of time citizens especially children and infants have frequently started disappearing which was a mystery until someone spotted a legendary monster. It was a large, hideous, manlike being that eats ordinary human beings. It was an ogre. Vikings have recently started invading Britain and now a Hideous monster is starting jeopardise their victory. What do these monsters want? Us Vikings are not going to stand by and watch these extremely unpleasant beast ruin what we have achieved.
It is s the players responsibility to guide the Vikings in the right direction, eliminating these horrendous ogres.
Controls & Game genre
The game is available on cross platforms and features online co-op and a campaign mode. Online mode allows the player to play along with four other players to help kill the ogres whilst in campaign mode the player can have the option to play split-screen multiplayer or have NPC's. The controls for the game are quite simple.
Here are the controls for the Xbox one;
RT- Run
L- Move
A- Interact
R- Camera Angle (Click in to stab with dagger)
B- Attack (Double press for extra attack)
X- Shield
LT- Inventory (Allows players to see other weapons/health potions)
Y- Use health potion/Other Objects like Strike-A-Light (Sets fire)
As well as fighting on land, the players also have to work together as a team on a ship to travel along the sea. If the player is playing online, the team will have to work as a crew and communicate to each other to travel the seas safely. For instance each crew member will need to have a duty so it’s important the crew communicates. To communicate to to other players online the player must use a head set. The game genre is a strategy, action-adventure.
Terrain
The terrain in 1066 varies quite a bit because the player is able to travel to different islands using their ship. For instance one island might have a lot of vegetation whilst another island might have zero vegetation and just jagged mountains.
Architecture
There isn't many buildings in 1066 although when the player visits a village they will be able to see different architectures such as huts, houses, markets, churches etc.
Player’s health
The player originally starts with 100% health which is displayed as a red bar just below the player. The player’s health is really weak until the player reaches level 5. At level 0 a small ogre could hit the player and take 10% of the player’s health, meaning that just 10 ogres could kill the player which is really difficult especially after level 3 when more advanced ogres are introduced. After the player reaches level 5 the health is upgraded and is slightly stronger for instance instead of a 10% damage of a small ogre it could be an 8% Damage. At Level 5 the player’s health will slowly start to regenerate back to their full health although this progress is really slow.
It is really rare the player health will increase again for example it could be level 13 till the next time the player's health is upgraded.
Below there is a basic animation to illustrate how the players health and ammo will work when getting attacked by a ogre;
Player Armour
Because of this it is necessary for the player to collect armour to survive. Once the player has collected a piece of armour the player can see it next to their map in the bottom left corner. Below the armour is a red bar which is the overall ‘health’ of the armour and the Blue bar is the overall 'strength' of the armour. Once the player has the armour (they don’t need to wear it, just choose it) it will protect the player until the armour is fully damaged and the player is left with their usual health. To restore the armour they need to carry on collecting it.
Different types
There are different types of armour and this is where things start to get a bit more complicated.
There is Three different classes of armour; Bronze, silver and gold. Each Class of armour includes a helmet, shield and chest plate. Each one has its own overall strength.
Here are the different percentages;
Bronze: Unlocks at level 5
Helmet - Adds up to 10% of protection.
Chest Plate- Adds up to 20%.
Shield - Adds up to 15%.
Overall Strength: 45%

Silver: Unlocks at level 10
Helmet- Adds up to 20% of protection.
Chest Plate - Adds up to 30%
Shield- Adds up to 30%
Overall Strength: 70%

Gold: Unlocks at 20
Helmet - adds up to 28%
Chest Plate - adds up 34%
Shield- adds up to 38%
Overall Strength: 100%
How it works
The Player will start collecting armour after the player has reached level 5. At level 5 the weakest armour is unlocked, the bronze armour. The player will have to destroy chests in order to find armour which can be quite difficult. Once the player has reached level 10, silver armour is unlocked and the player will be able to try and find the silver armour which will be even more difficult than finding the bronze armour although at this point the bronze armour should be a lot easier to find.
If the player finds a bronze helmet and they already have one with 100% health then the player can choose to keep hold of the armour to sell at the end of the level or to throw it away. The player can only sell a certain amount of armour; it depends on the capacity of the player’s inventory. The inventory originally allows the player to save 4 helmets to sell although this can change through levelling up or purchasing upgrades with gold found in chests and killing ogres.
If the player finds silver armour and is wearing the bronze then the player will be given an option to swap it for the armour he is already wearing. For example if the player has a full bronze armour suit but finds a silver helmet and swaps it for the bronze helmet then the player will still have the benefits of a bronze chest plate and shield but with the protection of a silver helmet too. The gold armour is unlocked at level 20 and is extremely difficult to find. Gold helmets are usually hidden in chests which are found in ogre’s homes or guarded by them. They are difficult to get but once the player has full gold armour, it will be extremely difficult for the player to die.
Ive created a short animation to show you the basics of the armour. In the video you will see the player pick up a bronze medal and it give the player the protection of the armour. Then the player picks up a silver helmet and is given the option to put the helmet on and then to either keep or throw away.
Characters
Viking- Protagonist
The player begins the game as a simple, weak Viking at level 0. The protagonist starts with a small crew with just 2-3 other Viking’s. Although the player can persuade other Vikings into helping him by earning a good reputation, to earn a good reputation the player must progress and complete side quests given to him by other Vikings/citizens.The character begins with a basic health and basic weapons such as an axe which doesn’t do much damage. But once the player has finished training at level 5 the player will unlock different types of weapons such as blades, borrow arrows etc.
At the end of each quest the player will be given the option to go to a village. At a village there is a small market which the player can go to too socialise, spend gold, sell weapons/armour or buy objects/upgrades.
Customisation
When the player first joins the game they are able to do the simple customisation to the player for free. For instance they can choose the players body built, skin colour, eye colour, hair colour etc. Although until level 10 the player is unable to customize the character again.
At level 10 the player unlocks a stall at a village which sells expensive items which will customize the player.
NPC
The character will normally see NPC's at the villages at the end of each level. The Npc's will include citizens, other vikings and shop keepers. The Player can engage in the NPC's to earn more respect of the other vikings which make it more likely they are going to join your viking's crew.
Ogres
The ogres are probably three times bigger than an Olympic wrestler would even be their defined muscles bulging under their green, thick scarred skin. Their skin is more like armour than anything you'd see on a human. When the player first begins the game the ogres are moderately small and easy to compete. For instance, when the player first begins the game they have an axe which does a total damage of 18 and at this point the total of the ogre’s health is 36 which mean the player only has to attack the ogre twice in order to defeat it. Although at level 3 the ogres start becoming more advance and eventually huge, boss ogres are introduced. These ogres are a lot bigger than the small ogres and do a lot more damage. If small ogres attack the damage is 10 whilst if a big ogre attacks it could do up to 30-40% worth of damage towards the player.Weapons
The Player begins the game with a simple axe which does a total damage of 18 when attacking the ogres. After the player reaches level 5 a whole new bunch of weapons are unlocked such as pick-axe, borrow arrows, Hammers, swords etc.
Interface and perspective
1066 perspective is similar to a top-down shooter perspective although the viewpoint of 1066 is going to be more of an isometric perspective which means the view point is slightly rotated so more of the game environment is in view.
The interface of the game is really simple. In the bottom left corner there is an option to pause the screen, a map and the description of armour and weapons the player currently has.
Story Board
I've created a short animated video to show the basics of how the game will work, I created this video in a short amount of time so everything is not perfect. Although, I wanted to create a simple animation just to make it easier to concept the idea of the game.
